Safeguard & Help Taunton’s Community & Culture

Creative Innovation Centre CIC (also known as CICCIC) is part of Taunton. Over the past 8 years we’ve been putting on arts and cultural events and delivering community projects for all ages, and become an integral part of Taunton’s arts, music and cultural scene.

We’ve had teenagers perform their first gig here, had schools involved, supported people living with dementia, delivered 100’s of community events with other organisations and charities, provided events for the older generation, a place where people can meet, and provided comedy, dance and music entertainment for a wide range of community interests and focus.

As a registered independent not-for-profit Community Interest Company  (CIC) our arts venue gets no public funding and lockdown has reduced its year-round income.

CICCIC usually makes it money from gigs, private events, exhibitions and workshops and its bar and cafe but on March 19th, we closed CICCIC to the public. Since then, our entire music & performance programme for the next five months has been cancelled or postponed, our exhibition spaces have been shut, and the café/bar have been closed. This has meant that our income streams have all but ceased.

CICCIC has been lucky enough to pay for its overheads for the past 3 months through support from government and landlord (we even got some funds to deliver a digital project but we cannot use these for overheads), but unfortunately that won’t come close to cover the costs. Which is why we’re turning to you, our regulars, supporters, people who believe in culture for Taunton and fans to help us out. We think we play an important part in a lot of people’s lives and really, really want to continue to do so.

We fully appreciate that these are tough times for everyone in every aspect of life but are still hopeful we can find the financial support needed to reopen. But the real beneficiaries are not us but the 1000's in the local community that use our centre to feel connected and enjoy arts and cultural experiences.

Once we reopen, we can get back to the business of showcasing a brilliant programme of music, performance, art and events in the second half of the 2020 and beyond!

P.S. We actually need more than £18k so we do exceed that number we would be very grateful but we are trying other fundraising methods. Thank you.
