Hi friends,
Many of you know that I have been a single mom for several years now - my kids are 11, 10, & 8. I'm also in full time grad school working toward my vocation as a hospice/prison chaplain.
Unfortunately right now I'm in a difficult situation and asking for help from anyone who feels moved. My 8 year old minivan, Vanna Blue, is the backbone of a family with multiple high medical and educational needs and many resulting appointments, and we were in a crash about a month ago. Insurance will not cover damage, and we're limping along with a smashed up front and a whole flock of angry dash lights until I can save up for around $7000 of necessary (not cosmetic) repairs. She's a great van with a lot of life left, and has been busy this year not just with my family but also with our volunteer work providing transport to asylum seekers, carting neighborhood friends and schoolkids all over town, and offering her large carrying capacity whenever community members need to haul things.
Those of you who know me are aware of how much I struggle with asking for or accepting help in a world filled with such great need. Thank you for reading this, and for considering helping us with safe, reliable transportation as we continue to navigate this challenging phase in our family life.
