Safe Shelter Adopt-a-Family

I started the Adopt-a-Family holiday fundraiser 12 years ago, because the thought of mothers and children in my community going without presents at Christmas just seemed unimaginable to me.  It began as a giving tree program, with wrapped presents and gift cards, that I personally delivered to the Safe Shelter of Benton Harbor, Michigan, a safe haven for families displaced by domestic violence and sexual abuse.  Now we've gone electronic, to make it easier to give and to make sure that these families receive the money they need at the holidays, not only to buy gifts, but to rebuild their lives.
