Safe Pedals is a grassroots initiative run by BerwaCycling Tours based in Kinigi, Musanze. We provide safety gear, emotional support, and a creative, dignified space for cyclists—especially those transporting heavy sacks of potatoes using single-speed bikes.
What We Do:
- Distribute helmets, gloves, and reflectors
- Maintain a safe rest and recharge hub
- Offer hot tea, snacks, and first aid for the cyclists.
- Promote storytelling, pride, and visibility for the cyclists through engaging the public through events.
From steep volcanic slopes to bustling markets, our cyclists power the local economy—one pedal at a time. Safe Pedals exists to ensure every journey is safer, supported, and celebrated.
*This GoFundMe page has been created by Gina Pellechio, cyclist and friend of Jean Ruberwa, founder of Safe Pedals. 100% of the proceeds of this GoFundMe support this initiative.
