On the night of May 8th, my nephew was set up by his “friends” and shot multiple times around the corner from my sister’s house, resulting in a ruptured spleen, fractured spine, and collapsed lung. Since then, he’s been on a slow, steady road to recovery, but is currently unable to walk or feel his legs, and there is no clear timeline of when or if he will regain that ability.

As a result of that shooting, my sister’s apartment complex has given her a notice stating that she has to move out of the complex despite my nephew being the victim in the situation. In addition to this, people within the neighborhood have been intimidating and threatening the lives of all who live with my sister— which includes my nephew’s girlfriend, my two nieces, and our little cousin.

With such a long road of recovery ahead and all the adjustments that will need to be made to accommodate my nephew once he is released from rehab, the last thing my sister needs to worry about is being evicted or being harmed by other people in the complex. We’re asking for $3000 to help her pay the first month’s rent and deposit on a new, safe home for her and our family, a place where my nephew(and everyone else) can heal in peace.
