Safe Home Desperately Needed for Athena and Her Children

Dear friends and compassionate strangers,

My name is Athena. I’m urgently seeking your help to relocate my family from a dangerous living situation. I’m a single mother of five children, four of whom live with me in a cramped three-bedroom apartment that we’ve called home for the past five years. Unfortunately, our apartment is infested with black mold, and despite multiple pleas to our landlord, not much has been done. A few attempts were made to clean the walls but the problem returned worse than before.

The mold has taken a severe toll on our health. My 4-year-old child has been bleeding from her ears, my 10-year-old suffers from daily migraines, and my 13-year-old has developed joint and muscle problems, preventing them from participating in sports. My 14-year-old and I both struggle with worsening respiratory issues. Additionally, my mental health has been deteriorating over the past few years due to the stress and fear of our living conditions. Disturbingly, three other tenants have died from “unknown” causes since we’ve lived here, heightening our concern for our own safety.

We now have an opportunity to move to a safe and healthy home, but we urgently need financial assistance to cover the first month’s rent and deposit. Your support can help us escape this dangerous environment and start a new chapter in a safe place. Any contribution, big or small, would make a tremendous difference for us.
