The 6th grade team is fundraising to take our entire 6th grade to a week long Science camp in the San Bernardino mountains. At this camp, students will go on nature hikes to learn about botony, different types of animals, and trees. Students also take a night hike to learn about nocturnal animals. Additionally, students strengthen their collaboration skills through team building activities. Science camp focuses on curriculum that is aligned to the state standards. Aside from being educational, it's also a time for students to practice responsibility, respect for nature, and sustainability.
All of the monies raised will cover the cost of sending our 6th grade students for a week. These costs include: transportation, housing, meals, and activities for 85 students. Our goal is to raise all of the funds by January 15th, 2016.
The SAE is committed to STEM education and continuing the 3 year tradition of sending 6th graders to camp. For many of our students, this trip will be their first time in the mountains or camping or both. Your donation would provide urban youth with the opportunity to learn about the world around them through a fun, safe, and educationally sound experience.
Thank you for your support!
