Early this morning, my dear cousin, Sadie Palma (Cole), passed away at Maine Medical center at the young age of 20 years old. She has always had a heart condition, but during her pregnancy last summer, she suffered from severe complications and pulmonary hypertension that got out of control. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Sofia on July 8, 2015, and nearly died in the process. Since then she has continued to be in and out of the hospital, often in the intensive care unit. She had dreamed of starting nursing school last fall, and was crushed when her doctors told her they did not think her heart was up for it. She was unable to work due to her condition and her medical bills have piled up. Just this week she was planning Sofia’s first birthday party, and now she will never get to see her little girl grow up.

Sadie was loved by all that knew her, and wanted to make a difference in the world. Her dreams will live on through her sweet little girl, Sofia.
