Help an II3 Disability Athlete Represent Great Britain at the Indoor European Championships!
‼️UPDATE‼️12th Feb 2025
Dear Everyone,
I hope this message finds you well. I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you who have generously donated so far. Your support has truly been incredible, and it means a great deal to me.
Unfortunately, I must share some disappointing news. Due to a lack of participants from the UK, Sport Excel UK will not be endorsing any athlete entries for the upcoming European Open Championships. I am quite disheartened by this outcome, as I was looking forward to competing.
On a positive note, I have received confirmation that I will be eligible for selection consideration in the Virtus Outdoors World Championships. I remain committed to maintaining my training and staying in peak condition as I prepare for this event.
As for the donations collected thus far, Sport Excel UK have advised that the outdoor world championships will be held in Australia and donations will be reserved for this outdoor world championships.
Thank you once again for your unwavering support. I look forward to continuing this journey with all of you.
Best regards,
Sadie x
5th January 2025:
Hello, my name is Sadie, and I am honored to be an II3 disability athlete with autism, dedicated to representing Great Britain in athletics. I have the opportunity to compete in the Virtus Athletics Indoor European Championships in Finland, taking place from March 27th to 31st. This is an incredible opportunity for me to showcase my perseverance and passion for athletics alongside fellow athletes with autism.
This competition means so much to me; it transcends the pursuit of medals. It is about breaking barriers, demonstrating what is possible, and inspiring others with autism and intellectual disabilities to pursue their dreams in sports. However, competing at this level involves significant costs.
As an autistic individual, I encounter numerous challenges, but athletics has provided me with a platform to shine. Your support will not only help me attend the Indoor European Championships but will also exemplify that athletes with autism and other intellectual disabilities deserve equal opportunities to compete on the world stage.
Your support will assist with:
- Travel and Accommodation: Covering expenses for both myself and my coaches.
- Travel Expenses: Including flights and local transportation to the championship venue.
- Accommodation and Meals: Ensuring proximity to the venue during the competition for convenience.
- Competition Gear: Providing high-quality equipment and attire to enhance performance.
- Training Support: Facilitating access to training facilities, coaching, and preparation leading up to and during the championship.
Why This Matters:
As an autistic athlete, I often encounter challenges that may not be visible to others, from navigating social interactions to managing sensory sensitivities. Each day presents an opportunity to demonstrate resilience. However, sports have served as my sanctuary—a space where I can channel my energy, manage frustration, and focus my mind. Competing at this level is not merely a dream; it provides me with purpose, confidence, and a sense of belonging.
Despite my passion, the journey is not without its difficulties. I face unique challenges, such as maintaining routines and coping with anxiety in unfamiliar settings. Your support would be invaluable, enabling me not only to pursue this opportunity but also to demonstrate that individuals with autism can achieve remarkable things when provided with the right resources and encouragement.
Thank you for believing in me and for being a part of my journey. Together, we can make this happen!
Share and Spread the Word!
If you are unable to contribute financially, I would greatly appreciate your help in sharing this campaign with your friends, family, and social networks. The more people who are aware, the better our chances of reaching the goal.
Let’s make this dream a reality! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support.
Thank you in advance,
Sadie xx
