Anyone who has ever met my cousin Sarah knows of her love for horses. She was the kid with horse posters and figurines all over her room and who started working at a barn as soon as she was old enough. At 22, Sarah achieved a lifelong goal and bought her first horse, Sis, and began training her. At 32, another dream became reality when she moved to Montana to work on a ranch. Sarah and Brandon were married in September 2023, surrounded by their favorite things: their families, their horses, and the mountains of Montana.
On December 9th, 2024, Sarah was diagnosed with breast cancer; stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma, which has also spread into the lymph node. Sarah and Brandon made the incredibly tough decision to move back to Ohio so that Sarah could receive the best care possible and they could lean on the support of their families.
Sarah faces a long journey of chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation, and added financial stress during this time is something no one should have to deal with. We have already raised money to help with flights between Montana and Ohio for medical appointments and the costs of moving their family to Ohio. But now, with Sarah not being able to work during treatment, they are also faced with bills for boarding their horses, as well as mounting medical bills.
Sarah's optimism that she will beat this is inspiring to all who know her. We must now rally around her and offer our support in any way we can, with our gifts of prayers, time, and monetary support.
