He was man with a huge personality, a real presence (big and loud, but a friendly soft hearted giant), who welcomed everyone with open arms, lit up everyone's heart with his warm words and huge smile.
Nawaz Khan has left a huge hole in the community and to many of us he was not just a friend, he was family (to the young or old and to people from all walks of life). To say, “He was a larger than life person” is an understatement, may Allah give his friends and family sabr and reunite us in the Akhirah (afterlife)…Ameen.
In the loving memory of our brother we are hoping to raise money to build a masjid in Malawi. Costing roughly £5500
Green Crescent Aid UK is an UK registered charity (No. 118779) based in Keighley, West Yorkshire. It is a volunteer led charity, with no paid workers and has a 100% Donation Policy.
The charity operates in Malawi, where it is registered and has a well established team on the ground.
Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world with 2/3 of the population living on less than $2 a day. It has a large population of Muslims who live in some of the poorest areas in the country.
There is a lack of facilities for the people to pray and most rural villages have makeshift Masjids that are built with straw and bamboo sticks. During the rainy season these Masjids flood and often collapse.
The New 6x5m Masjid will be built with a strong briquette structure and will have both walls plastered internally and externally, have iron roofing to stop the rain, lime mortar flooring and seperate prayer halls and wudu facilities for both men and women, accommodating around 150 worshippers at a time.
Building a masjid is one of the best SADAQAH JARIA possible.
The Prophet Mohammad (saw) said: “whoever builds a house for Allah. Allah will build for him a house in paradise” Bukhari & Muslim.
