In Loving Memory of Safiya Khanom - A Lasting Sadaqah Jariyah
إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.
“Indeed, to Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return.”
(Qur’an 2:156)
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved Safiya Khanom. May Allah (SWT) pardon her sins, look upon her with mercy, and grant her a place in Jannat al-Firdous. May Allah illuminate her grave, may He envelop her eternally with His love and compassion and make her resting place a garden from the gardens of Paradise. May every hardship she endured in this dunya be a means of elevating her ranks in the Hereafter. Ameen Rabb al-Alameen.
Although our loved ones may leave this temporary world, we are still blessed with the opportunity to continue doing good on their behalf. One of the most beautiful gifts we can give someone who has passed away is Sadaqah Jariyah, an ongoing charity whose rewards may continue to reach them long after their departure from this dunya.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.”
Sahih Muslim 1631
It is with this beautiful Hadith in mind that we have established this fundraiser in loving memory of Safiya.
Honouring Safiya’s Own Beautiful Intention
Before her passing, Safiya had wished to build a water well on behalf of her beloved grandfather, Mohammed Taiab Ali, who passed away on 30th May 2002, as a form of Sadaqah Jariyah.
Her intention was to provide a source of clean water for those in need. Which would allow others to benefit from this act of charity whilst the rewards continued to reach her grandfather, by the mercy of Allah (SWT).
Although Safiya was not given the opportunity to fulfil this beautiful intention, we pray that Allah (SWT) rewards her for the sincerity in her heart and the goodness she wished to bring into this world.
Her wish serves as a reminder that love and remembrance do not end with death. Just as Safiya carried the memory of her grandfather in her heart more than two decades after he returned to Allah, we intend to carry forward her memory through acts of kindness and lasting charity. It is our sincere hope that through this fundraiser, we can honour Safiya’s memory.
May Allah (SWT) accept what Safiya intended for her grandfather, forgive them both, illuminate their graves, elevate their ranks in Jannat al-Firdous. Ameen.
Our Intention: To Build a House of Allah
Our intention is to raise enough funds to build a masjid on behalf of Safiya. To create a place where generations of Muslims can come together in worship of Allah (SWT).
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 450; Sahih Muslim 533
Our hope is that this masjid will become a lasting source of Sadaqah Jariyah for Safiya. A legacy of faith, generosity and goodness that continues for generations to come in shaa Allah.
Just as Safiya had hoped to leave behind a source of ongoing goodness in the name of her grandfather, we now hope to create something in her memory that will continue to benefit others for years to come.
A Small Donation Can Leave a Lasting Legacy
No sincere act of charity is insignificant.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “Protect yourselves from the Fire, even with half a date in charity.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 1417; Sahih Muslim 1016
Whether you can contribute £1, £5, £10 or more, every donation is deeply appreciated. What may seem like a small contribution, may carry immense weight on the scales on the Day of Judgement.
Just imagine standing before Allah on the Day of Judgement, finding rewards from prayers you never performed, Qur’an you never personally recited, and acts of worship made possible through a contribution you once gave sincerely for His sake.
We kindly ask you to donate whatever is within your means and to share this fundraiser with your family, friends and wider community. Even if you are unable to donate just sharing this appeal and making sincere du’a for Safiya Khanom is a beautiful way to support this cause.
Jazakum Allahu Khayran for your generosity, kindness and prayers.
