Sadaqah Jariya for Ilyas Iqbal
Donation protected
By the name of Allah, the all-Merciful, I am fundraising to build a well in the name of my beloved uncle, the late Professor Ilyas Iqbal.
The gift of water saves lives, which is a hugely rewardable action. Allah says in the Qur’an, ‘And whoever saves one [a life] - it is as if he had saved all of mankind’. (Qur’an, 5:32) Imagine that every single time the clean water you donated to saves someone’s life, it is as if you have saved all of mankind!
‘The Messenger of Allah (saw) was asked, “Which charity is best?” He replied, “[Providing] water”’. [Abu Dawud]
Allah says in the Qur’an, ‘By means of water, we give life to everything’. (Qur’an, 21:30)
The responsibility of a teacher isn't just teaching the curriculum but to pave the way we think, they're the first brick in the foundation of social development. One of the ways to still gain hasants in the hereafter is through knowledge you have spread on earth. Professor Ilyas hasn't only inspired and motivated, but helped many students achieve a bright future. Ilyas Iqbal was the type of person that lit a room when he would walk in. He always had a bright smile on his face regardless of how difficult life got for him.
Despite struggling with arthritis he helped thousands of students achieve their life long dreams of becoming successful doctors and engineers. The news of his death spread like wildfire and thousands of people came to be part of his funeral. His students and fellow colleagues mourned over his death and praised him for being such an incredible role model in their lives. He would take time out of his own time to provide extra help for those students in need. Some of his students share that he wasn't only their mentor, but their friend and a father figure in their lives. Another student shared that he didn't even need help but still went to be tutored by Ilyas Iqbal because of the type of man he was and how much of an impact he had on his life, after all people remember you by how you made them feel. He always gave the best advice and was an amazing listener. Maybe that's why his students loved him so much, they felt heard by him, they saw the light at the end of the tunnel through him.
All throughout his life he was a very genreuous person who had a significant impact on the people of his community. After his sudden demise even the homeless were crying over his death , that's the type of influence he had over others regardless of status, class or color. Ilyas Iqbal had the kindest soul and the purest heart, and was always there for everyone in time of need. He made it a debt to us to help him in the hereafter. To help build a well is also to prepare for your own akhirah, since every soul shall taste death.
