Sadaqa Jariyah for Ahmed Kasem
Bismillah. A year ago today, I lost my only brother (and only sibling) and my parents lost their only son and youngest child. His death shook our local community and so many people felt and continue to feel his loss. There are no words to describe the pain felt in his absence. I will always be grateful for the many people that came forward to support our family last year and provide sadaqa jariyah, to continue his legacy in the form of raising funds for charities, building wells and water systems, sponsoring iftars at local mosques, and completing ummrah on his behalf. Words will never do justice to express how much I appreciate hearing the dreams people had of him, their memories, when he was mentioned in a duaa, when they visited his grave or when they were thinking of him so reached out to me.
It’s really true what they say about how a death can reveal so much about those around us and we’re thankful for a community filled with love and support. Ahmed was always one to give, he was more than charitable with his words and would always try to uplift everyone around him. He would gladly give the clothes off his back, his time and his money to friends, family or complete strangers. When he passed, he was in the midst of donating his time, money and skills (he worked in HVAC) to help renovate a local mosque.
Losing Ahmed is a loss I (and so many) will never recover from, but continuing his legacy is a form of solace and a task I hope to achieve for the remainder of my days, until we meet again, inshallah.
During these last holy nights of the month, I ask that you keep Ahmed Kasem on your tongue and in your mind as you make duaa, during your prayers and as you give in charity.
His death memorial falls on the 21st of April and the 21st night of Ramadan, a holy night. Please consider supporting this charity or any charity of your choice, in his name during these last few holy nights of the month. You and he will reap the reward, inshallah.
MCC is a local mosque/community that is youth driven and does so much work for our neighborhood in Brooklyn, NY. They’re currently expanding their masjid and community center and are raising funds in an effort to buy the building and provide adequate amenities for our community. One of the best forms of sadaqa jariya is when the charity goes towards a mosque and we would love to honor his legacy in doing so. If we raise the total fundraiser amount, we will raise 7 shares of Sadaqa Jariyah in Ahmed’s name.
Allah Yerhamu and Inshallah we meet again in Jannah Ferdous. Forever AK.
