Sacred Art for the Wintersville Parishes

Give a gift to your parish this Christmas season! We would like to commission original sacred art for Wintersville parishes, Blessed Sacrament and Our Lady of Lourdes, that reflects our unity with each other and represents our different parish devotions. On the left of the altar will be St. Bernadette, the young girl to whom Our Lady of Lourdes appeared. On the right will be Bl. Carlo Acutis, a young man who died of lukemia at the age of 15 in 2006. He had a deep devotion to the Eucharist and was best known for using his love of technology to create a website that cataloged both Eucharistic miracles and Marian apparitions. We hope having the image of two teenage saints near the altar will inspire our young people to adore Jesus in the Eucharist and be devoted to our Blessed Mother.

The sacred artwork will be created by local artist Amber Knorr and the replicas will be created by Nelson Woodcraft. The above and below images are a rough draft she provided to help us conceptualize what the sacred space would look like in both churches.

About the Artist: Amber Knorr

Amber Knorr was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. She studied Theology and Catechetics at Franciscan University of Steubenville before moving to Florence, Italy to pursue artistic training at the Sacred Art School. This figurative art school had a particular focus on St. Pope John Paul II's "Theology of the Body" along with training artists in the Catholic tradition of Sacred Art.

As an artist Amber is interested in exploration of the human figure and the Christian faith. She hopes that through her art she may "put people not only in touch but in communion, in intimacy, with Jesus Christ."
