the pandemic hit, and, it hit our services hard.
With the transference of Yoga practice to virtually all virtual(!), I quickly realized that the nature of this forced-evolution would be depleting both to social aspects of health and the energetic feel of in-person Yoga for all involved, no matter how many benefits were gained from the surge to online Yoga.
However, due to some friends and strangers who donated to my original Sacred in the Round GoFundMe campaign, and a small co-led Yoga class fundraiser with Leigh and me, to help kickstart the project, we were lucky enough to have already started the foundation for Sacred in the Round, only a year prior to the pandemic. So, when the pandemic hit last Spring, I dug down deep into my pockets, asked my partner to help with labor, and together we made sure to finish this 30-foot outdoor octagonal deck just outside of our "studio with walls".
Now, after a year of online Yoga, and a tester season on the deck last Summer/Autumn, my feelings about staying together in-person felt more applicable, and what felt like a very necessary stepping stone would be to create more of a sacred "container" and a safe practice space outdoors; to erect a very special and functional, yet, hardy tent to keep us out of the glare of the hot Summer sun or the breezy Autumn showers.
Please help us hire three very special and local artists to contribute to this effort :
Steve Reed, of Surely Yurts, to help build the framework and sew the massive sheets of rubberized canvas material;
Natasha Bogar to silkscreen original artwork onto the canvas; and,
Atalie Wells, to help re-create signage for this re-emergence of Stepping Stone Yoga and transition to Sacred in the Round.
Any left over money, should we surpass our goal, will go toward a small privacy fence between the deck and parking lot.
By breaking down barriers that agendas, divisiveness, inequalities, and confinement create for us, we are creating a Yoga studio-without-walls. VISION for this space is to make my offerings (Yoga, Hoop Dance, Drum Journeys, etc.) to include all economic systems so that no one is left out from this practical step toward health and wellness: we will take Donations, Trades, Patronage, and Passing it forward as all viable forms of "payments" for deck offerings.
Please help us continue to build our Yoga community together so that in-person Yoga stays safe and stays here, in-person, with our vision for this Yoga-Studio-Without-Walls!
Thank you in advance for either contributing funds or spreading the word.
