Sabu Community Centre

Andrew Chan had a personality larger than life that impacted and transformed everyone he encountered.
In the midst of a dire circumstance, Andrew put his heart and energy into helping others around him thrive, bringing encouragement and support to those in need, but most of all brightening us with his infectious loud laughter. 

It was just over 4 years ago that Andrew was executed in Indonesia, but his legacy lives on through the hard work of Feby and her team.
Their dream is to build a community center on a small island called Sabu for disadvantaged children and youth. Being a small island, Sabu provides limited opportunities and education. The children have no safe place to spend their time in, and many end up turning to alchol or drugs as an escape.  Andrew and Feby's heart ached for them and they shared a desire to make a difference in these young lives.

In 2018 their dreams became a reality with 'EDEN'.

Eden is a multi- purpose building with a kindergarten in the morning and Community Center in the afternoon. Their vision for the center is so people can come to a safe place to learn English, computer lessons, music, art classes etc, all for free! These valuble lessons will give the children skills and knowledge which open up doors of opportunity for a brighter and more hopeful future. 

Amazingly, the building is up, the school is open but there is still much to do. The children need computers, books, stationery, art supplies, music instruments, and the on going costs of running the center is still a challenge. Without the support and input of gracious and generous friends, the center will not be able to continue to grow and achieve it's vision. 

We will be participating in Run Melbourne to raise money and promote the Eden Community Center. We want to see the next generation to reach its full potential. The run will be on Sunday the 28th of July. We will be running either 5km or 10km to show our support to Andrew and Feby in helping them continue their dream.
