Family and Dear Friends of Sabrina Ella McKinley, a beautiful, loving, strong, and high-spirited 25-year-old young lady, are pleading for your help. Sabrina Ella is in critical need of extensive testing for 3 painful and chronic conditions: Endometriosis, Blood disorders, Dysautonomia, and an on-going series of Digestive Disorders. Along with these medical conditions, she is also immunocompromised which means her immune system isn’t working as well as it should in order to protect her from infections. Her immune system does not distinguish the difference between normal and foreign cells.
In short, this is a brief description of Sabrina’s health challenges: Endometriosis is an idiopathic condition, meaning there is no known cause and no specific ways to prevent it. Endometriosis is a disorder which causes tissues that normally line the uterus to grow outside the uterus. With endometriosis, the tissues can be found on the ovaries, fallopian tubes or intestines. Symptoms of endometriosis include chronic abdominal pain, heavy bleeding, nausea and vomiting. In Sabrinas 1 in 5 million case the endometriosis spread to her colon, bladder, and abdominal wall. Unfortunately, at the young age of 24, she and the doctors thought it would be best to have a total hysterectomy. Her ovaries, fallopian tubes, and uterus were not only covered in endometrial tissue, but she had PCOS, fibroids, and adenmyosis making her be in constant pain.
Dysautonomia is the medical term for when the autonomic nervous system (ANS) does not work as it should. The autonomic nervous system (ANS) is responsible for maintaining a constant internal temperature. Symptoms of dysautonomia include fainting, low blood pressure, dizziness, chest pain, nausea, fatigue, and frequent urination.
Digestive Disorders involve the digestive tract which includes the esophagus, liver, stomach, small and large intestines, gallbladder and pancreas. Digestive Disorders are one of the most difficult disorders to diagnose because it involves the stomach and nearby organs. Diagnosis and comprehensive screening are difficult and time-consuming since many known stomach digestive disorders share a lot of the same symptoms. The most common symptoms of digestive disorders include bleeding, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome, and cancer.
Sabrina has had countless ER visits, being hospitalized repeatedly and having more than 12 procedures and surgeries, Sabrina’s care team, primary care physician (PCP), specialists, and surgeons have recommended and referred her to top nationally recognized study hospitals: UT Southwestern, Johns Hopkins, or Mayo Clinic. Due to the astronomical and unaffordable cost of each of the above hospitals, it is impossible for Sabrina to be accepted as a patient without financial support.
After almost a year wait, we were informed that neither Mayo Clinic or UT Southwestern hospitals are capable of handling my extreme and rare case. It is out of the scope of the surgical teams at both facilities, along with my local hospitals: Medical City, Texas Health Presbyterian, Methodist, and Baylor Scott & White. With that being said, I have been referred to hospitals which specialize in endometriosis that has traveled throughout the body. Unfortunately, there are only approximately 7-10 hospitals with a team of specialists qualified and skilled enough to perform the needed surgery. Due to excessive bleeding, between July - October 2023, I have had 6 blood transfusions and 4 iron infusions to stabilize and maintain my blood levels.
Although Sabrina has insurance, her insurance plan does not cover the expenses of the numerous doctor bills, tests, studies and procedures that are needed and unfortunately, the above recommended hospitals do not accept Sabrina’s insurance plan; consequently, all expenses must be paid out of pocket.
Sabrina was recently diagnosed with 2 kinds of blood disorders; Factor V - a mutation of one of the clotting factors in the blood. This mutation can increase your chance of developing abnormal blood clots, most commonly in your legs or lungs. She also has Factor XI-is a rare genetic bleeding disorder caused by reduced levels and insufficient activity of a blood protein called factor XI. Due to her having a clotting deficiency and a bleeding disorder, it is very hard for Sabrina to heal properly after having surgery.
Sabrina has been on this miracle-needing journey for the past 7 years, enduring pain daily. Yet, her perseverance, courage, determination and faith have remained constant. There are MANY tests and scans Sabrina has not yet received to her high risk of sepsis and bleeding/clotting. Most of the care that she needs is throughout the country, working with a team specialists who can tend more to Sabrinas well being. This process is very slow and tedious, however Sabrina’s belief and prayer is that the financial she receives will not only help bring resolve for her condition but will also enlighten the minds of doctors and bring them closer to the cause and cure of these damaging and debilitating illnesses in order to be a blessing to others.
For this reason, we are desperately and earnestly seeking your help! The funds raised for Sabrina Ella will be used to cover her hospital bills, doctor bills, surgeon/anesthesiologist fees, tests, studies, prescription and expenses. We are asking you to PLEASE donate any amount you are able to contribute in order to get Sabrina Ella the medical help and attention she so desperately needs. We appreciate you for every financial gift and we pray blessings and favor upon each of you. Sabrina Ella McKinley continues to trust and believe God for her complete healing and wholeness.
