EXCESS SKIN REMOVAL SURGERY!!!
Donation protected
Hi Everyone,
My name is Sabrina Parkins, I'm 22 years young and currently a Final Year Psychology student.
When I was 20 years old, I was unhappy and unhealthy. I knew being overweight was the reason for both of those, but I just didn't care. However, that all changed after my health began to affect my education. I was always so tired, that I would sleep throughout most of the day, and concentrating on my work at uni was a struggle. I was also experiencing an awful pain in my foot which I was unaware of the cause. I went to the doctors, and this was the day I got the shock of my life, finding out I weighed 23 stone (146.6 kg/ 323lbs). That alone, I knew I had to make a change.
So 1st January 2014 I started my weight loss journey and 1 year later (January 2015) I had managed to lose 10 stone (140lbs), 2 months later I lost another stone (14lbs) giving me a total weight loss of 11 stone! Then life got the best of me, from end of april/early may I noticed I started gaining a bit of weight again, then after a very eventful summer of 3 holidays, I had definitely gained a bit more than anticipated and began losing it again and I'm now just about 20lbs away from being back at my goal weight :)
As a consequence of losing all this weight, and even gaining a bit and losing again I have excess skin which is very unattractive. My most problematic areas are my arms and my stomach and it's difficult to know I worked so hard to lose the weight and I'm still not happy with my body. Unfortunately, my case is not accepted by the NHS and so they will not fund any surgery for me, so I have to go private. I can happily announce that on June 9th 2016, I will be having the skin on my arms and stomach cut off for good!! Words cannot explain my excitement, although I must admit I am extremely nervous!!
I decided to run the Great Birmingham 10k on May 1st 2016, and would like people to sponsor me through go fund me, and this money will be used to help fund the cost of my surgery. I wanted to do the run as I wanted to push myself and do something I have never done, and do something in return for all the support I recieve. The total cost is £5,000, so I would really like to try and raise at least 50% of that cost.
All donations no matter what amount will mean more than you can imagine. All my life I've dreamed of wearing a bikini and that just isn't possible. I hate my arms, and the skin on them is a hinderance in terms of wearing short sleeved tops, and just in general as it is quite heavy.
Any amount you donate will help me finally embrace a healthier me, and I will appreciate that for the rest of my life.
Thank you so much for reading :)
