Sabrina's Boobs Tried to Kill Her (Medical Bills)

I am raising money for emergency/ unexpected medical bills on behalf of Sabrina Livermore and her family with their permission. Here is the story of how Sabrina's boobs almost killed her! (And the huge $20,000+ medical bills that followed.)
Sabrina and Tom are two of the most wonderful, genuine, loyal, hardworking people I am blessed to know. Sabrina just started back at an awesome new job (congrats!) after completing her RN degree last year (congrats again!) and staying home with their absolutely adorable baby girl, Alice (congrats a third time!) She woke up not feeling too great with a headache Friday morning (22nd), but powered through to attend her two hour work training anyway. As she continued to feel worse and worse, she went to urgent care after her training, where they immediately suspected sepsis and called her an ambulance to go to the ER. While Sabrina was getting more confused and delirious from her worsening condition, the helpful people at urgent care saw her employer was a hospital and sent her to a sister location within the same network so she would be covered. (In reality, it wasn't discovered until later that her health insurance through her new employer did not actually start until March 1st.) At the hospital they confirmed that what started as mastitis from breastfeeding the cutest little peanut ever (I might be biased) quickly turned into a very serious case of sepsis. The doctors told Sabrina and Tom that it was good she didn't wait any longer to come in, or it could have been much, much worse outcome. (For those of you that don't know, sepsis is a very serious infection in your bloodstream. It can cause blood clots, organ failure, septic shock, and kills over 250,000 American's a year according to the CDC. It's very scary stuff!) Sabrina spent 3 nights at the hospital till she was discharged late afternoon Monday the 25th. While she is still feeling pretty weak and exhausted from being so sick, she is thankfully feeling better and continuing to recover at home!
Now the crappy financial part. As many of you know, healthcare is not cheap. It would have been fabulous if Sabrina's boobs had waited ONE week to try to kill her till her employer sponsored insurance began, but alas, what's done is done. While discussing payment plans, they learned the estimated total bill for the hospital stay is $18,000, which doesn't include the ambulance ride (at least a few thousand) and urgent care fees. We'll round down and say that's $20,000 for one weekend to quite literally save Sabrina's life. A newly married family with two kids (who haven't even seen the first paycheck of Sabrina's new job yet) was not expecting to have an enormous emergency medical bill added to their life plan on top of school loans, childcare, and everything else. Tom works incredibly hard to support this wonderful family and still is one of the most loving, supportive, caring father and husband I know. I am SO proud of Sabrina going back to school to get her RN degree (while pregnant!), landing an awesome job, and how hard she works doing all of the mom/ wife/ household stuff on top of everything. Plain and simple, this is a really great family who is well deserving of some help in their time of need, even if they are too humble to want to ask.
While we're not necessarily expecting to reach our goal (though it would be super amazing!), it is set at $10,000 which will be approximately half of the total cost for Sabrina's medical care that weekend. (We will update with actual cost once the bills come in.) Please donate any amount you can, and share Sabrina's story to help get the word out!
