Hello! My name is Juliet. I am raising money to help one of my good friends, Sabina. I call her a friend, but she is my family. I have known her for over a decade. She made me feel welcome in Oregon, when I knew almost no one. She was there when my mom died. She stood by me at my wedding. I know she has shown up in these ways for countless others. Sabina is reliable, passionate, and generous in all she does in both her personal and professional life. She is a Mexican American Immigrant. She came to America when she was just a teenager. Sabina is now 40 years old. Since I met Sabina 11 years ago, she has been struggling to legally obtain the right to work and live here. It has been a very expensive and often heartbreaking journey. She has been in the process of trying to obtain a social security number for the past four years. Although this process is actively pending, the social security office itself has given Sabina’s place of employment an ultimatum. Sabina needs to produce a working social security number or the company must no longer employ her. She is now doing everything she can to appeal for more time. The legal process she is entrenched in to obtain a social security number could take up to a year. I am raising funds to help her pay for legal fees and to help her prepare for any time of unemployment she might unwilling experience.
