It is with great sadness and grief that I write to you all today. I am trying to help out my cousins and the De Dios Family in this very difficult time in their lives.
My Auntie Sabina De Dios Duarte (62 years old) went in to the hospital because she was not feeling well, her blood pressure was very low, however once at the hospital she suffered a heart attack which prompted the medical professionals to transfer my aunt to PIH Health Hospital in Whittier were she could receive better care and remained in stable condition for a couple days, recuperating for the most part. We were optimistic. Nevertheless my aunt's condition took a turn for the worst, her liver and kidneys started shutting down, she was placed on a respirator, feeding tube and was given drugs to sustain her heart rate and blood pressure. With her already weak heart the doctors advice there's not much else they can do. My aunt remains in life support and it was with great pain and a heavy heart that the family decided to have her taken out of life support. In our minds and in our hearts, we knew it was the right thing to do.
It is a very difficult time emotionally and needless to say the family is not prepared for it (Emotionally nor Financially). We are humbly asking family and friends to reach in your hearts and donate whatever you can to help alleviate the financial burden this will take on their family. Any and all help is appreciated
For those of you who know my aunt know she is a very kind hearted person who lived a simple life. She is selfless and her focus has always been her family, even at the hospital her main worry was that the family was not getting enough rest or ate regularly because of her. She was diagnosed early on with diabetes and because of this my aunt has led a healthy life, always watching what she ate, she never smoke or drank alcohol. For many years she worked at Hughes Aircraft until 6 years ago her vision deteriorated due to her diabetes. My aunt will leave behind her loving husband, son and daughter.
