50% of all mental health conditions start by age 14. Most cases go undetected & untreated.
Suicide is the leading cause of death for Australians between 15 & 44 years of age.
Sadly, I could go on and on quoting horrific facts & figures about mental health.
6 years ago I was fortunate enough to be invited to join Conviction Group as a small group facilitator for the first Young Men's Health Forum in Western Sydney.
At the time, Conviction Group was a bunch high school and university friends who wanted to raise awareness of mental health issues for young Australians. Over the last 6 years, I've been fortunate enough to watch CG grow, develop and mature into an established charity.
Our goal has since been refined:
"To encourage young people to re-evaluate their perspectives on pivotal issues concerning their health and provide them with the tools to enhance their decision-making."
A big and much needed task to tackle in growingly uncertain and unstable times.
I'm incredibly proud to report that over the past 6 years, CG has delivered programs to over 10,000 young Australian's in NSW. Whether it be via school presentations, at annual forums or during the 9-12 week mentoring programs we deliver, the team are doing their best to achieve our collective goal.
As you can imagine - for a charity that leans heavily on working with schools - COVID posed a significant challenge.
On the 17th of April - I'll be stepping into the ring for an amateur boxing fight with Corporate Fighter. I've never boxed before and I don't love my chances at a career in the sport - but doing this hasn't been about the main event!
I'm aiming to raise some funds for CG so we can get back to doing what we do best & what we all want be doing as soon as possible... Helping young Australian's during a time when they arguably need it more than ever!
Any contribution you are able to make is massively appreciated and really does go a long way!
