My name is Drew and I'm raising funds for my friend, Saalika Khan. Saalika is one of the millions of people who have struggled financially due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Her financial burden was unexpectedly worsened after accepting a job on an independent film last month.
Hired as a production assistant, one of Saalika's major tasks as a PA was to order camera equipment for the production. Joshua Reisman, the film's production manager, instructed that the equipment be rented through an online community-based marketplace called ShareGrid. Because Saalika was already registered with ShareGrid, she was asked to order with her personal account. After successfully receiving the order, the camera kit was passed along to Joshua to be held until production. It was the first and last time Saalika would see Joshua in person.
Two days after the equipment handoff, Saalika reported to set for her first day of production, only to find that no one else was there. Saalika came to the sobering realization that there was no set, no film, and worst of all, no Joshua Reisman. "Joshua Reisman" was the alias of a man who had scammed and disappeared into the night with stolen property. To make matters worse, because billing for the rental was under Saalika's account, ShareGrid has determined her financially responsible for the lost items. $4,700 in equipment, to be exact.
After exhausting attempts for help from the police, an attorney, and even a private investigator, Saalika has no option but to pay the $4,700 to financially compensate the owner. This is why we are kindly asking for your financial support.
The goal is to reach $5,200, which will cover the cost of the equipment, as well as payment for the PI. Any financial assistance will be much appreciated. Even if you're unable to monetarily contribute, sharing this with others that are able would mean a great deal.
