Jose Camacho is 25 years old. He does not have insurance, and was in the hospital for 20 days since December 21st of 2020 because of a severe case of pancreatitis with infected necrosis due to gallstones in the bile duct that connects the gallbladder and the pancreas. He already had the gallstones removed, and is waiting to have his gallbladder removed. This is not often something that becomes a 20 day stay in the hospital, but unfortunately, Jose has experienced some serious complications after the first procedure to remove the gallstones. Among those complications, he also contracted pneumonia, which he being treated for right now. His body has taken a lot of damage, and has been under a lot of stress.
As it stands now, the doctors have decided he needs to fight the infection in the hospital, then he was discharged on January 7th, 2020, and sent home to recover for at least 2 months. After he's recovered, he'll go back to the hospital to have his gallbladder removed, then he'll have to recover from that surgery. Jose had been working at a car dealership, and we're not sure when he'll be able to return to work.
We are asking for money to help with his incoming hospital bills. He does not have insurance, and though we don't know what total amount of the bills will be yet, we know they will not be small, especially since he's been in the hospital for a total of 20 days now. He's already had one major procedure done, and has been going through testing every day. Now, he will have to go to many follow up appointments to monitor his recovery progress, which will incur even more bills. After that, he'll be admitted back to the hospital for a major surgery. He is in great need, anything you can donate will be so helpful.
Jose is my brother-in-law. He lives with my husband, Alex, and me. He and Alex are best friends, they are very close, and Alex is so sad to see his brother so sick.
I trust that he'll make a full recovery, he's in the hands of excellent doctors, but it will take time. We want to make sure he isn't burdened with financial worries while he recovers.
