Help us Save Dante

Hi Everyone,

I'm creating this page on behalf of Dante, (a 10-year-old adopted cat) living in NY and his owner (and one of my best friends) Maria.

Dante's owner Maria would usually never ask for help but has so far exhausted almost all available means for his care. She works a full-time job while also being a full-time caregiver to her permanently disabled stroke patient mother who resides with her and Dante. Maria's mother is also incredibly attached to Dante and Maria has been very concerned about the toll it's taking on her mother's health.

On January 10th, 2023 Dante suddenly got very sick with nonstop vomiting, absolute loss of appetite, and overall lethargy. Upon several vet visits later and prescribed medication, he appeared to be doing better. A week ago things turned for the worse and upon further tests, they discovered that Dante was highly anemic, had really bad kidney and liver markers, inflamed pancreas and lower intestines and overall to quote the vet "was very very sick".

Dante was hospitalized and spent 4 days in the hospital including in the ICU unit receiving a blood transfusion. The unfortunate news is that the medical team is still trying to narrow down the root cause of his illness which requires time and many specialized tests. So far the bills have added up to $11k.

If you're able to contribute any amount to Dante's medical care, it would be eternally appreciated by this family and myself. All copies of medical bills will be shared on this page. If the number of donations exceeds the amount required for Dante's care, the remaining balance will be donated to an animal cause-driven organization.
