Arthur "Spike" Doogan and his wife Olita "Penny" Doogan have been put through some trying times in recent years. After 25 years of sobriety, in 2012, Spike was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver as well as hepatitis C. After a multitude of medical procedures and setbacks Spike was put on a waiting list for a liver transplant. During a checkup in 2013 doctors discovered that Spike had a blockage of all four arteries in his heart and needed quadruple bypass surgery.  After successful heart surgery Spike was again placed on the waiting list for a liver transplant and recently was blessed with the gift of a new liver. While Spike and his family should be celebrating this gift, they have been hit by yet another set back. In December of 2014, Penny was diagnosed with non-small cell cancer. Together, with their friends and family's support, Penny and Spike are determined to overcome this trying time and live happy and healthy well into their golden years.


This journey will include numerous doctor visits and possible hospital stays for Spike, and a long list of chemotherapy treatments and follow ups for Penny. Needless to say, this kind of intensive treatment is very expensive and helping to ease their financial strain is the purpose of our mission.
