Just days ago, our sweet friend and family member, Karen Walkup, received the heartbreaking diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), an aggressive cancer of the blood and bone marrow. What began as unexplained bruising and a rash quickly escalated into emergency hospital care and the devastating confirmation of this serious illness. Karen has already started daily chemotherapy and will remain in the hospital for an extended period as she undergoes intensive treatment.

Karen and John are now walking a very difficult road with medical challenges, daily travel, emotional strain, and mounting financial burdens. John makes the long round-trip drive every day to be with Karen, while still trying to care for things at home. Medical bills, gas, meals, and other unexpected expenses are quickly adding up.

In the midst of this storm, Karen’s faith remains unwavering. Her deep trust in Jesus continues to be her anchor, and she believes that God is with her every step of the way. She finds strength and peace in His presence, holding onto hope for healing and restoration. Her words and reflections, shared through CaringBridge, continue to inspire everyone who reads them.
