Hi, everyone! My name is Emily, and I’m creating this for my step-dad Brian and my mom Lisa. In 2020, Lisa and Brian's story began across borders—Lisa here in the United States, and Brian in British Columbia, Canada. For four long years, they navigated a long-distance relationship with the hope that one day they could finally be together permanently. After the difficult and lengthy fiancé visa process, their prayers were answered, and last May in 2024, my mom and Brian were finally married in a beautiful courthouse ceremony ❤️ (and if anyone knows Lisa, then you know she baked her own wedding cake!!!)

Anyone who knows Brian can tell you—he is a kind, genuine, and wonderful man. He is quick to lend a hand, always puts others before himself, and brings sunshine to those around him. It's impossible not to see how DEEPLY he loves my mom Lisa and our family.

Just recently, Brian was diagnosed with brain cancer—specifically, a Grade 4 Glioblastoma. He has just began both high dosage chemotherapy and radiation treatments this week.

The next 6 and a half weeks will be grueling, requiring daily radiation appointments, meetings with the oncology surgeon, and constant care.

Because Brian hasn't yet qualified for FMLA at his job, he doesn't have the protections or benefits that would normally help in this situation. On top of that, my mom Lisa must take time off from her own job each day to drive Brian 45 minutes each way for his treatments and support him through every appointment.

With the holiday season fast approaching, the weight of these financial burdens feels especially heavy. So I’m creating this GoFundMe to help ease some of that stress and allow Brian and my mom to focus on what truly matters: his healing, our family, and continuing to make the most beautiful memories together during this difficult time.
