Hatching Short Film

Hi, my name is Jade Tyndall, and I am a film student in Vancouver BC, hoping to bring to life my film Hatching, a fantasy story written and directed by me. The story follows Haylie, a headstrong mage's apprentice who is failing in her magic studies. She finds a dragon egg while cleaning her mentor's library, and through her unsuccessful attempts to hatch it, she realizes she has to focus more on finding joy in the process rather than the end results.

This idea of falling in love with the process is something that I have come to understand recently, through my journey at film school, and I believe it applies to any pursuit someone might be striving towards in life. In film specifically, I’ve come to realize that the amount of time you spend with a finished project is so small compared to the time it takes you to get there. If you don’t enjoy the process, why are you doing it? I’ve also noticed a lack of fantasy short films, and my biggest question is “why?” As someone who sees magic everywhere, and especially in the act of storytelling itself, it just makes sense for me to create these kinds of stories and fill that gap. I want to prove that fantasy can be done on a small budget, and doesn’t have to be a crazy world-saving adventure to be meaningful.

Proceeds from this fundraising campaign will be used to purchase props and set decorations, to give the world that cluttered, lived in feeling, as well as securing locations, and, most importantly, feeding the cast and crew.

And, because I believe in giving back and paying forward, I have a rewards program for donations! I am a digital artist (some of you may be here from my art instagram, hi!), and as such these rewards will be art based.
