Crystal McCombs is a 37 year old mother of 5 with a terminal illness. She was in nursing, taking care of the elderly before she became ill in 2008, when she was diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, which has cause high pressures in the right ventricle of her heart. All the medication that she's been on has just eased the symptoms, and now her heart is failing. Her insurance has agreed to cover the organ transplant, but she needs a $10,000 co-pay per transplant (heart and double lung).
She has 4 school age children (5,8,9 & 17), and a hard working husband (40) that can not save the co-pay amount in time to save his wife's life. Other needs are travel/transport from Birmingham, AL to whichever transplant clinic that will do the procedure.
