My name is Nikki and I'm sharing this GoFundMe on behalf of my dear bestie, Crystal McKnight. Only 52 years old, she has had a very difficult time medically. A diabetes diagnosis in her 20s led to a myriad of lifelong challenges. In addition to amputations, she had also endured Polymiositis, which is a condition that attacks your muscles, resulting in her being wheelchair bound. Eight years ago, after discovering that her kidneys were compromised, she started to receive dialysis. Over the last few years she has been on and off the transplant list. After an excruciatingly long wait, she finally got the call on 5/27/24 and received her new kidney (also known as the little nugget) on 5/28/24. Thankfully, Crystal has responded well to her gift and she was released from the hospital on 6/4/24. As someone who lives alone, she now finds herself in the position of needing extra help. With insurance only covering a day per week of at-home help, Crystal needs to be able to pay for private medical support multiple days a week. In addition, with a compromised immune system, she needs extra help keeping her apartment clean and sanitized. Finally, she needs to be able to pay for meal prep during her recovery time. Understanding that times are tight and everyone has financial obligations, we humbly ask if you would consider donating a little something to help Crystal fully recover after such a long journey toward better health.
