Hi Everyone,
We are Ed and Katelyn Doepel. We live in the suburbs of Chicago and have two sweet little boys, Noah (5) and Eli (3). We both are working parents, but our true joy is spending time with our boys, family and friends.
Ed and I got married 7 years ago and have always had on our hearts the desire to help children who are less fortunate. God has blessed our lives with wonderful family and friends, two healthy children and much more than we deserve. We want to be able to give back some of what God has so freely given to us to those who need it more than we do.
That being said, two weeks ago we learned about an opportunity to serve orphans by opening our home for a period of time. After hours of prayer and discussion we have decided to open our home to two children from Eastern Europe for 5 weeks starting in December. They are brother and sister, but due to European laws I can only share a picture of them and cannot disclose their ages or names. If you would like to learn more about them we would love to talk with you. They will be here over Christmas and until the end of January. We are excited, nervous and prayerful that God will not only bless them immeasurably, but also that God would speak to us and change us through this process as well. We want to bring the mission field to our front door and show our boys what truly loving others looks like. Jesus has an unwavering love for His children, we want to be His hands and feet to these two children. We want our children to grow and to learn how to love others the way Jesus loves them.
What we are asking from you: We need your help in this fund raising campaign. We have to raise $6,000.00 by November 4th. The first half of $3,000.00 is due by October 20th. This covers the cost of their travel and country fees.
We were not planning on hosting two children, but we definitely felt lead by God and it was very clear that these two were meant to be our host children. If you feel compelled to help support us in this journey we would greatly appreciate whatever you are able to give. If you cannot give monetarily, that is ok, we would ask that you please keep our family and these two children in your prayers as we take this step out in faith.
