Vision, A Precious Gift!

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Amy Mullen I am 33 years old and I live in Memphis, TN with my husband and 2 boys age 10 and 5. I was diagnosed with a retinal eye disease called Stargardt's at the age of 16. I have recently been accepted for a surgical procedure were they extract bone marrow from both of my hips which allows them to create a stem cell serum to inject behind my retina which can possibly restore my dying cells. The procedures are held on April 26, 2016 or May 3, 2016. The only problem is naturally my Insurance Company BCBS will not pay for this. I have an opportunity to restore the vision loss and central blindness that has progressed over the years. I am still currently driving a vehicle with the assistance of bioptic lens but as of my last vision exam I am hugging that line of loosing it permantly. I have two young children who are extremely active in sports which means with work and being a baseball mom I fear the moment when they basically say " It's time". I have learned to adapt with my sight but it is extremely difficult sitting across from your wonderful husband and not being able to see his face. To tell a little bit about my family life we have story time each night at bedtime and the fact that I am unable to see well enough to read to the boys breaks my heart but fortunately I am like one of the kids because I get story time read to me also. My kids like testing me a lot always asking me " How maany fingers are we holding up" and it does tickle me no matter how many times they say it. My 5 year old Landen likes to go to the library at school and specifically look for the largest print books he can find. My 10 year old Payton is a huge help always reading things for me. Payton especially likes it when Landen gets a bad report from school. LOL. My husband Justin is always supportive even when I have my breakdown moments of something as silly as not being able to see my face in the mirror while putting makeup on because the central blindness that I have is a certain diameter that will continue to grow if no treatment is attempted. I am a very independent woman and hope to be the rest of my life. My visual acuity has become 20/200 in my right eye and 20/90 in the other which means guys I am a lawn mowers worst nightmare trust me my husband will vouch for that yet I still drive it and he keeps repairing it. I am reaching out to everyone who truly understands and values the precious gift that God has given and I pray everyday that mine will remain but with your help this might be possible. Please allow me to remain the Independent , hard working, loving wife and mother that I am. Thank you all who gives and always know I will forever be appreciative. ⛪
