Jason Adcock and family

Everyone, this is Shannon. My best friend is Melissa and her husband is Jason. Jason is a very hardworking, loving, and supportive husband and father. One evening a normally very healthy Jason became very ill. Developing a fever, vomiting, and then the changing of pigmentation of his skin things went from bad to worse.

He was immediately rushed to a hospital two hours away in Indianapolis. For hours there were multiple doctors consulting to determine how to save this young man’s life. After another hospital transfer it was found that Jason had HLH, or hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis. This is a primary immunodeficiency. The body actually makes too many immune cells.

A three week hospital stay brought with it a lot of information to be learned as well as many bills to be paid.

Although Jason has returned home he is far from out of the woods. He receives chemo weekly which requires trips back and forth to Indy, but this is only temporary. He also has doctors’ appointments all around and is facing a necessary stem cell transplant to save his life.

It is important to remember that HLH is fatal if not given this transplant within two to six months. He is currently awaiting a match that will likely come from a bank. This is the only known cure.

Without Jason working, Melissa being his full time caregiver, and no end in sight to either of those changing, there is a big concern on this family’s mind. Bills are piling up, gas, food, and hotel expenses are needed, and insurance doesn’t cover everything medical.

So friends, family, and those looking for a worthy cause please consider helping Jason and Melissa and their daughter out. Of course, we know that through prayer, and believing in God’s healing ways, that Jason can be healed.
