11 Year Old Arvontez Abbey
Donation protected
This fundraiser is for 11 yr. old Arvontez.
He was recently unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer. Arvontez is the second oldest of his moms four children. This family is originally from Iowa and have been living in Texas for a little less than a year. Due to the nature of his illness and the required 24 hour care that he will need, mom will be unable to work during his recovery. Mom, Kayla has exhausted her savings and needs our help to continue and maintain a life as close to normal as possible. Donated funds will go towards shelter, food, living expenses, and trips to and from appointments etc. His Mom shared their story on Facebook and I have it posted below.
A lot people might know already but some may not. Jan 18th I found out Arvontez had a brain tumor. I took him to the hospital because he kept throwing up and they kept saying it was strep. So that Monday of that week I took him to the hospital again they said he was negative to all the flu and cold test. But still couldn’t tell me wth was wrong . So Wed as I’m getting off from work n picking my baby up . My son calls me crying hysterically saying his head hurts . I told him ima b home in a sec. Then my grandma calls me right after and says . Kayla you know what after seeing him last night n seeing how he looked made me cry and I think u should take him to the hospital and make them admit him. So I call my boss n tell her I’m not making it in for my double. So I got all other kids from school n took them home. I head to the hospital with Tez. when we made it to the hospital in the parking garage we get out and tez said mommm I can’t seee and passed out in my arms. My son was unconscious for at-least 10 seconds . I just screamed n bawled my eyes out while calling his name. My son said he couldn’t feel his arms when he came conscious. This lady and her daughter rushed to me and try to help me . The lady called 911 they couldn’t find where we was so I just picked my baby up and ran him to the hospital. I yelled n told them what happened they rushed us to a room. They got tez comfortable and ran test. They told me Arvontez had a large mass on his brain. At that time I didn’t know what that meant . I just was hurt cuz it was on his brain. The next day the doctor came to talk to me about what they seen on the scan and showed me this mass was a taking up 1/3 of his brain. The doctor told me all the risk and everything that can happen during surgery and that there was no waiting he’s getting surgery right away. The doctor told me the tumor was also on his brain stem and he possibly lose all his mobility and his sight or maybe can’t even talk because where the tumor was. I honestly couldnt even process everything I was jus bawling my eyes out. So I went back and told Tez everything n jus talked to him about it so he understood. He was so strong he said I jus wanta get it over with. ❤️so the next day Arvontez has surgery at 730 in the morning. So I sat in pre op waiting room for 12 hours waiting for my baby to make it out. 7 something that night I woke up to the doctor in my face saying his surgery was done an it WAS NOT cancer . So the nurse came and got me and said your son woke right up from the anesthesia and asked where his mom was. Another nurse followed her saying he’s freaking out looking for his mom so I rush to the back and see my son face and everything swollen from the surgery. It killed me seeing my baby like that. I’ve never been so heart broken in my life. So a few day later another doctor came in and told me that my son had a rare brain cancer called “Ependymoma”.. I just cried because they told me it wasn’t cancerous n now it is. My heart shattered and died. I became even more numb that this isn’t over for my son So they told me he has to do radiation when he gets out the hospital. Tez loss Alot of mobility and his eye sight isn’t the best but he working really hard to get back to himself. They jus threw out that he was coming home in a few days which I was not prepared for & also told me he needs 24 hour care so now I can’t work . & have to figure wen ima ever get a break because it’s jus me and my 4 . But I got my baby n I know it’s a long recovery road but he’s got this my baby is the strongest person I know. I honestly jus wanted to share our story maybe it could help someone else. PSA: “If your baby is sick and they not giving you the right answers find them for you and your baby!” Before it’s to late. I Can’t stress that enough because if I kept listening to them my baby could be more damaged from this or could of possibly died Arvontez is also donating his tumor for them to research and find answers to this for the sake of someone else’s child
