Help us give Jerry a proper farewell

Hello. My name is Katherine von Poks and I'm fundraising on behalf of my family to help lay my father, Jerry von Poks to rest.

 

Jerry passed away suddenly on December 7th, 2021 at home in Dinwiddie, VA. Jerry was born in Petersburg, VA to his parents, Karl and Peggy von Poks. After graduating high school, Jerry enlisted in the military before serving tours under the Army, Navy, and Air Force as a combat medic. After his retirement from his military service, Jerry spent the rest of his life in public service acting as a police officer, EMS worker, and continued working as a healthcare professional in rehabilitation centers for veterans and teens alike until his passing.

 

Jerry was a dedicated employee and sought to aid others before himself. He continued this belief into his family values, always putting his children first. He leaves behind 2 teen daughters Katherine and Abigail, and his eldest Brittany. He spent every moment of his fatherhood pushing his girls to do their best and was incredibly proud of everything they accomplished no matter how small the achievement.

 

Jerry was a charismatic person with a profound love for books, classic music, and films who spent a majority of his time reading in his library next to a hot cup of coffee. He always talked about wanting to travel to visit his family in his hometown in Germany and spending a winter in Alaska. His childlike love for Batman, Willy Wonka, Disney, and Christmas always made the family smile and we cherish every reminder we have of him.

 

 

 

Services will be held Friday, December 17th for friends and family to pay their respects.

 

 

We would be thankful for any donations to help cover the costs of the funeral and lay this beloved man to rest. All proceeds will go towards the funeral costs and allow this financial burden to be lightened from his surviving children.
