Waldorf Teacher Training

My name is Cynthia and I'm raising funds to support my further development in Waldorf inspired early childhood teacher education. I have been working at Anchorage Waldorf School as an assistant teacher in a mixed age early childhood classroom for 2 years and will be continuing my work for the following school year with the intention of eventually leading my own classroom. For those of you who are not familiar with Waldorf education, it was created by Rudolph Steiner in 1919 based on his philosophical and anthroposophical approach to human development. Waldorf is a holistic education that focuses on the development of the hands, heart and head through imagination, art and nature. Waldorf education acknowledges the unique spirit of every child and strives to awaken and nourish the potential that is innately present within each child. In early childhood the focus is on inspiring the imagination through fairy tales, watercolor painting, drawing, handwork, nature and instilling magic and beauty in the seemingly mundaneness of daily life. Waldorf education invites magic and wonder into all aspects of learning, both small and grand.

This training is important to me because while nannying 3 years for one family and working 1 year with neuro-divergent children I realized the importance of fostering the 'whole' child through a holistic approach and that modern education was lacking. Our children are our future and I am on a journey committed to kindling the light and inner fire within every child. This 1 year certification in Lifeway's training, a Waldorf inspired education for early childhood, will provide me with more tools to deepen my knowledge and awareness of what it means to embody Waldorf education so that I may awaken my own highest potential to serve the children in my care.

As a single mom and underpaid hourly teacher (as are many teachers for the work we do), I find myself here in a place of inner development where I am asking for and allowing myself to receive support on this journey. I am grateful for any support whether or not it has a monetary value and appreciate all the love and generosity that is offered. I give thanks from the deepest of my heart. Thank you.
