I am reaching out to raise funds for my strong, loving, cousin Cassidy, who has been through an incredibly tough time and is struggling to make ends meet, due to a variety of medical issues. Her health is continuing to decline, leaving her unable to work, and her medical bills, added to the loss of her income, are causing her family to truly struggle.

In January 2022, Cassie started experiencing severe health issues, causing her to have episodes every single day, leaving her unable to work. As her neurology appointments and medical bills piled up, she was forced to take a leave of absence from her job. After months of no answers, referrals to cardio and electrophysiologist specialists, pulmonary, and more tests she began having new symptoms that caused her to be unable to walk without falling. She went to ortho and she was diagnosed with hEDS and a deformed hip socket, both causing a tearing of her ligament. PT and shots into her hip helped, but will continue to cause repeat tears until she has surgery. Not even 2 months later Cassidy, Brett, and their two young boys all suffered through Covid19 and Cassie ending up in the hospital with pneumonia and Flu A at the same time. Brett unjustly lost his job due to needing to take care of his family's health and his own, causing a loss of income for 2 months. After recovering from covid and the flu, Cassie's other health issues multiplied. She was finally diagnosed with Small Fiber Neuropathy, Hyperadrenergic POTS and is on the road toward 3 other diagnoses they believe are connected. Her hEDS caused another hospital visit, learning she needs yet another surgery.

Cassie wanted to delay surgery due to finances becoming overwhelming, however her doctors recommended she does not return to work due to her symptoms and recent ultrasounds causing concern if the surgery is pushed off. It has been scheduled for August and she will not be able to work for a few months.

Despite having clear medical diagnosis that prevent Cassidy from working, her family was denied the financial assistance they applied for, leaving her family out of options for this time. During this entire decline she's lost family members that she took care of and handled responsibilities for, their home being struck by lightning that exited through her car requiring her to purchase a new one as well as being unable to live in the home for over a month, and in recent weeks, health concerns for both her children that required multiple specialists, many tests, and a surgery next month for her youngest.

We are reaching out for help to cover the medical bills and other unexpected expenses that have left my cousins struggling to survive. It is difficult for any family to handle the cost of one major issue. Having the loss of loved ones, medical issues for not only herself, but her children, and home repairs all needed at once has crippled this family. No person should struggle between the decision to have surgeries needed, or feeding their children/keeping the lights on. Any help, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated.
