Help Chris pay for Cleveland Clinic

Donation protected
Update (September 21, 2017): Chris is still in the process of being seen and undergoing many testing procedures at Cleveland Clinic. Unfortunately, he was also hospitalized three times in August. Originally, he was scheduled for rheumatology, neurology, and cardiology. Now, urology and nephrology have been added and the Baldwins need help funding additional, unexpected trips to Cleveland.

Also, their children were screened for autoimmune diseases and one of them tested highly positive. She will now need to see a pediatric rheumatologist for a consultation and additional testing. The Baldwins will have to travel outside of West Virginia for that, as well.

Chris is a hardworking, 36-year-old married father of two children, who has been battling an autoimmune disease since January 2014. The disease has affected his skin, kidneys, heart, lungs, and brain. Local doctors had been managing his symptoms with medications until last month, when the disease affected his heart to the point of causing a rare type of heart attack. His local doctors are now doing what they can to protect his heart, but are sending him to Cleveland Clinic where doctors have more experience in dealing with rare conditions and autoimmune diseases. He was told that there is nothing more that can be done for him here, in West Virginia.

Chris is currently in the appeals process with his insurance company to be covered in Cleveland at his normal coverage rate. He will be seeing a neurologist, rheumatologist, and cardiologist there. His family’s immediate financial priority is to cover their travel and accommodation expenses. They just need to get to Cleveland Clinic and then worry about the medical bills later. They are already trying to manage a great deal of medical debt, ongoing and from the past few years.

Chris and his family will need to pay for hotel accommodations, transportation, food, parking, and pet care. Any additional funds raised will assist the family with the burden of excessive medical debt. The Baldwin family would be very grateful for any consideration and support.
