Drake Family

Dear Facebook friends and family,

The  Drake family is in need! Josh Drake my son ,his wife Kacie and my grandson Sloan. They’ve been struggling and pushing through for many years due to Josh’s health issues.  As some of you know, Josh suffers from uncontrolled and quite severe epilepsy (seizures). This is a disability that has not only hindered, but at times completely halted their family’s progress. That said, they’ve never lost faith , pushing themselves through every hurdle and I’m proud of  all three of them. Growing , loving as a family , following their dreams and hopes despite of many medical and financial setbacks .

On December 20th, Josh went status epilepticus (he was having seizures without full recovery of consciousness between any of them). He was put into a medically induced coma. When I arrived at the hospital on December 21st and looked at the faces of Kacie and Sloan my heart sank as I could see the fear in their eyes. Joshua was in a medically induced coma  for 5 days as he could not maintain his own airway ,  by the grace of God he woke up on Christmas day.  During this coma, Josh suffered physical and cognitive delays, and the road to recovery that lays before him is long. But as y’all know, my son is STRONG, and Kacie is a fighter with the help of his family, friends, medical staff and most importantly God, he will fight to make a full recovery.  

This is where we need your help! As you can imagine, the cost of the doctor visits coupled with all the physical, cognitive, and emotional therapies are putting an extreme financial strain on their family. They are cutting corners where they can and if you know Kacie at all she is thrifty and I like to call her The Chaos Coordinator “.  In the weeks and months to come the treatments, medications, multiple therapy disciplines needed the cost just continues to mount . The Drake family is going to try and get  Josh more autonomy  by buying him a medical companion dog. This would allow him to claim back his independence, and get back to using his law degree to help support the family! We believe that by adding a service dog, Josh will be able to recover faster and continue to make a difference in this world. I’d like to ask that you consider donating, any amount you’re comfortable with, to our cause. We’ve set a high goal, but just know that every little bit is hugely appreciated by me and the Drake family!
