Well, the little man had a bad day. He had another seizure. It was a small one one, but it really took it out of him. There was no warning, but that's how it goes with this sort of thing. He's been doing well and making progress, slowly and steadily. We all knew there would be setbacks. It's an inevitable part of this process. We are all so attuned to Sabian's needs and well-being that we really felt it. He is not in any pain, but he's exhausted. A byproduct of the seizure has been pronounced swelling of his whole head. Sabian occupies such a large piece of our hearts that seeing him in this state makes it, at times, hard to hold back tears. It's important to remember that he is not in any pain. Discomfort, yes, but no pain. Due to the dimentia he experiences "sundowning" and, combined with today's episode, presented a new challenge. It almost felt like a two-steps forward one-step back kind of situation, but we choose to focus on the positive. I think our reaction to seeing him like this confuses him more than anything. He is still with us, in our arms giving us love and comfort, wagging like a puppy and being the cuddlebug we have always know him to be. We remain hopeful that Sabian will continue to recover, and this has only been a temporary setback.
The vet has assured us that the swelling will go down and that he will be fine. The medication is working and we are working with him to help him through his recovery. We are still very happy that he has been able to walk up and down stairs a few times. Even if he can't do it today or tomorrow, he will do it when he is ready and we will be at his side cheering for him.

Happy Mother's Day! The whole family got together to celebrate. Sabian had a great time with some dog friends as well as his humans. He has also taken a big step in his recovery. He can now walk up and down the stairs again by himself. Since the seizure he has needed to be either carried or just very closely assisted so this is a very exciting event. Mother's Day was particularly great because he was so cheerful and had more energy than we've seen in a while. After so many difficult days our optimism has been replenished.
The weather was perfect and seeing him surrounded by so many people who love him and are all cheering for him was fantastic, if not a little overwhelming. We're so proud of our boy and wanted to share this momentous event. He still has a long way to go but seeing glimpses of him reclaiming his old self really reinforces our confidence in his strength.
THE KING WILL RISE!

UPDATE:
Sabian is still recovering from surgery. The incision is healing nicely and he is looking like a bit of a bad ass. Progress is slow but it's happening. Day by day he is returning to his old self. One of the byproducts of his seizure was that he lost most of the peripheral vision on his right side and, due to chronic disorientation and limited vision, could only turn left when walking. It's a strange thing to see, but he has moments where he can navigate his home environment without incident. These moments seem to be few and far between, but as long as they continue to happen we are optimistic.

Hey everyone, I'm not one to ask for handouts but I could really use some help right now. My best friend and boy had a seizure on Friday March 24th. After a CT scan and MRI ($10,000) we determined he has a glioblastoma tumor. He will be on prednisone to reduce the fluid in his brain. Many more tests are needed and medication. We are also wanting to get radiation to give him a fighting chance. Radiation therapy is another $14,000. I will do anything i can to save this precious pup. He is literally my life. If you can help and share i cannot thank you enough. Thank you for reading this i appreciate everyone so much. Thank you.
