Help Rebuild After Hurricane Helene Devastation
Donation protected
Hi. My name is Laine, I'm 57 and a year and a half ago, I moved to N. Georgia after being born and raised in central Florida, to try and start a new chapter in my life. A fresh start after quite a few emotional impacts and losses. My home was destroyed in the early hours during Hurricane Helene when several trees began falling, and one fell right through the center of my home from the back to the front and covered the driveway. For a brief period of time, I couldn't even get out with my car. In total, there's about 10 trees down. But it only took one to destroy my home. It made such an impact, they did a story on it. Story from Now Habersham
Thankfully, I was able to get out as the trees were still falling and my cats made it and are with me now.
I am waiting to see what insurance will do and it's taking awhile as so many areas have had such devastation and loss in W NC, TN, FL and GA. In the meantime, while I'm very thankful I have been able to stay with a friend, I know I will need things like a few new clothes, trees and the debris removed, storage for the items I might be able to save many of which were family heirlooms I'd manage to bring with me and are priceless to me. There are so many expenses and this is going to be a long process. I know not all will be covered by insurance and I am simply not financially secure to cover it all.
I hate asking for help, I know so many of us are struggling and I know so many people in the South are experiencing such devastation.
