In May of this year Charlie began experiencing frequent headaches. On Saturday , May 30, he was suddenly unable to stand up properly. At this point Charlie's wife, Stephanie, and son, Ean, insisted on taking him to the emergency room.
In less than 24 hours their family was devastated with Charlie's diagnosis of Clear Cell Carcinoma Stage 4. It appears to have originated in the kidneys and spread to his lungs, liver and brain.
Within a month Charlie went from being fully capable and working full time to requiring full time care to manage his debilitating symptoms. His doctors are not without hope and have implemented a treatment plan. While we are so grateful for this it has been very grueling. He received radiation for the last 4 weeks but that treatment has now ended. Next week he will receive a chemotherapy pill. Two weeks after starting the chemo pill they plan to introduce an Immunotherapy Infusion.
Stephanie is currently working extremely limited hours (which were already greatly impacted by the current pandemic) while trying to navigate the numerous medical appointments for Charlie, which are daily at this time. As Charlie requires 24/7 care, his family has been taking turns caring for Charlie through the night. This is clearly not sustainable.
Needless to say , their family is tremendously challenged and struggling to manage everything that's required to help Charlie. On top of the physical and emotional toll there is significant financial strain and uncertainty.
We are asking for funds to pay for a nighttime Carer, which
is approximately $160-$240 per night. The family are in immediate need of assistance in this matter as they battle through each day the best they can.
Any donation is greatly needed and deeply appreciated.
We will update Charlie's progress and let everyone know how he's doing.
Please pray for Charlie and his family.
