Help with Roo's medical bills

Don protégé
This is hard for me to post. Our poor “Roo” is very sick and in with the veterinary specialists Anderson Moores at Lumbry Park in Alton. I know that it is financially tough for everyone but if you are able to spare anything it will go towards helping my best friend (soul mate) to find the answers to his illness.
Hi, my name is Netty and I’m fundraising for my beloved best friend and soul mate Roo. I am heart broken to even be writing this as we never thought this would happen to us.
Sadly, poor Roo is very sick and is currently undergoing so many tests with the veterinary specialists, Anderson Moores in Alton.
Roo is only just 3 years old and is normally so vibrant and just loves everyone. He had just started his career in flyball and was loving it, he adores everyone and especially our grandchildren. He is the soppiest loving lurcher you could ever meet. He loves trips to the beach, running around with all the other dogs at flyball and does not have a nasty bone in his body. We all miss him so much, our house is not the same without him there, apart from trying to take up most of the bed!
He became ill around mid-January and started to look a little yellow on the skin in his ears. We rushed him to the vets and found that it was a very bad liver issue and his white blood cells had crashed, he was hospitalised for the night as he was dehydrated and also put on medication. He seemed a lot better and came home. He had blood tests regularly for the next week or so and the liver enzymes were coming down nicely, but the white blood cells were not recovering. Then he seemed to just go downhill, vomiting, shaking, not eating or drinking and looking just so sad and poorly with his temperature rising, so yet again we rushed him to the vets, and he was given anti sickness drugs and many other medications to help him. We went home and the anti-sickness drug did not work which was very concerning, so we rushed him back the next morning as his temperature was also sky high. The vets were totally baffled and carried out an ultrasound. It looked like it might be his pancreas but when they did a test it was not, so they had to operate only to find that his gut flora had totally crashed, and his gut was raw, inflamed and full of gas – he was in so much pain. He spent the night in hospital and the next day, then came home on many meds. He was ok for a few days, we were having to hand feed him six times a day and give him fluids with a syringe and then he went downhill again with his temperature going to over 40 degrees, a large lymph glad started to appear on his left side near his throat and then also on the right side, he could not eat or drink and kept retching and was so weak and trembling awfully. Again, we rushed him to our vets, the vets had no idea and had to refer him to the specialists in Alton. He is now there undergoing many tests. The CT scan has shown no evidence of anything awful; they have carried out tests/samples of his liver, gall bladder, pancreas, lymph glands, salivary glands, bloods etc and the test have been sent away for analysis. He is on IV fluids, anti-sickness and many other medications. Today he is comfortable and ate a few mouthfuls of food, he will not drink as yet. We are now awaiting the results of all the tests which possibly will be back tomorrow 13.02.2025
We have all of our fingers and toes crossed that they can find what has made our poor Roo so unwell. We have maxed out on his insurance and paid our vets £7000.00 now the specialists’ quotes are between £6000.00 - £9000.00
We are not expecting to receive the full funding from this but are thankful for anything you can give to help Roo with his treatment as it may well be ongoing until they find the cause. We just want to get him back home with us and not say that we have to euthanise him as we can’t pay anymore ☹.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, please share amongst your friends, family and everyone if you can. We know it is a tough time for everyone but just a small donation would help with his recovery.

Regards,
Netty and Roo
