Ruby's Surgery
Donation protected
❗️ ❗️ UPDATE #5❗️❗️
Ruby just had her cast and bandage come off today on April 3rd. She will be going back again next week to Mississauga to have her stitches removed and in 4-6 weeks, another X rays needs to be done and the screws placed need to come off. This is necessary and part of the procedure process and will be another $700.
We have most her procedures covered but every bit is super helpful to us. Thank you again to everyone who’s donated & kept her in your prayers. She’s doing very well and the vet believes her leg is healing well!
❗️ ❗️ UPDATE #4❗️❗️
We are now home, and our baby is pooooped. She is doing well, just very tired but it looks like we have a bit of a recovery ahead of us for her. Because she’s a fast growing pup, she’s lost some range of motion in her leg due to the development of fibrosis. This means she might need some physiotherapy in the future.
For the mean time, we’re expected back at the hospital she was at next week for a check up + in another 6 weeks for another small procedure to remove the screws they’ve put in her leg.
For this reason, we’ve decided we are going to keep her GoFundMe up

❗️ ❗️ UPDATE #3❗️❗️
Ruby is in surgery now— as it’s been a week since her accident, her fracture has gotten bigger. The surgeon will be adding temporary screws to her leg so it heals as normal as possible but she will need to come back in 4-6 weeks for another small procedure to remove them.
❗️ ❗️ UPDATE #2❗️❗️
Ruby is scheduled in for her surgery on Monday at a clinic in Mississauga so we will be travelling for her appointment and dropping her off for 10am.
The vet will want to see her this weekend prior to her procedure so now we are just praying that everything will go smoothly & safely for our girl.
We want to thank every single one of you for your generous donations -- we can't express enough how much it means to us and what it means to us to have such kind people willing to support us.
May an abundance of blessings reach you for your generosity in Ruby's journey. <3

The emergency vet has called with the second opinion from a surgeon, and they want her in sooner rather than later— today or tomorrow.

Hello everyone!
My name is Olivene -- Kareem & I are asking for your support for our little pup's surgery.
Ruby is a 5-month-old pomeranian husky. She is very sweet, loving, EXTREMELY social & active pup. We had just been exploring the option of getting her trained and we were about to enroll her into classes until her fall on Friday, March 17, 2023.
During one of Ruby's walks, she as usual was so excited to be outside and playing in the snow. From all that excitement, she was running in circles and fell over a parking ledge and landed on her side-- she seemed fine as she kept playing but when we got home she was limping.
We waited 24 hours to see if this would resolve itself, and after getting her to the vet they had explained she had a fracture on her growth plate that required surgery to avoid further damage. On top of the $700 we had just spent, we were looking at another $5000 for this surgery.
Right now, my fiance and I are transitioning into new job positions which makes this a very difficult bill for us to cover at once and on our own but we want Ruby to have the quality of life she deserves. She's been such a trooper through all of this, barely whining but we can tell she's not her active self and it's so saddening to see her so down.
All donated funds will go directly towards her surgery & medication/supplies needed.
We want to thank everyone for your support & if you are not able to donate but can share this post, we greatly appreciate it.
Love,
Olivene, Kareem & Ruby
