Help Fund Our Senior Thesis Film — RESONANCE
Donation protected
WHAT & WHY
We are working on our university thesis project as a requirement for graduation: a short film, produced to professional standards, with an eye toward entry in industry-leading festivals. We are asking for donations to help cover the costs of pre-production (starting now) and principal photography (Spring ‘22).
PROJECT & PEOPLE
The project is a fictional short film called RESONANCE with an expected runtime of 15 minutes and crewed by a majority-female team.
Produced by: Alysha Aldred
Written and directed by: Don Barfuss
STORY [ LOGLINE ]
When a gifted thief wants to escape a life of crime, his final heist will push his oldest friendship to its breaking point.
DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
RESONANCE is a story that celebrates friendship while empowering boundaries. It is a story about judging those you love with clarity; about defining your own normality, your worth, and escaping the judgements imposed upon you. Those who are neurodivergent or know someone who is may find this especially poignant.
For the main character in this story, their pain haunts them through a unique form of synesthesia where sounds resonate as colors; frequencies and hues are intertwined, strongly tied to emotion. This audio-visual coalescence makes film the perfect medium to explore and experience the inner life of this character.
This is a journey through one of the most difficult choices anyone can make: separating from family. But there is hope in that, however painful, and I cannot wait for audiences to experience this film.
