Lyric's Recovery

Donation protected
Family and friends we have an update about Lyric. She has developed another spinal cord tumor/mass. At this time we don't know if it is a reocurrance or different type. She is scheduled for surgery on May 1st.

Lyric is so sweet, she just wanted to be at home for her birthday. Which is something we were able to do!  She keeps asking if she can wake up after surgery to a room full of stuffed animals.   It seems silly, but last year her stuffy "Sheba" went with us to the hospital. She used her stuffed animals to talk about how she was feeling.  The staff would give a different stuffed animal IV's and medicine, and then Lyric wasn't afraid to do it. Also, her pet tiger "attacked" if she wasn't happy about the way things were going. It was an amazing tool for her to express her feelings freely with. ( I copied this part from her mom's post, she said better than I could.)

If you want to send cards or stuffy's you can send them to:
Children's Mercy Hospital, c/o Lyric England 2401 Gillham Road, Kansas City, MO 64108.
We appreciate all the love and support.

I have also included the go-fundme link from last year that is still active.

Christmas morning of 2021 Lyric had a fall, the next day we were at American Family Children's Hospital in Madison WI. What we thought was related to a UTI turned out to be much worse. On Monday the 27th it was discovered Lyric had a tumor in her spinal cord about 5 vertebrae long.

Lyric was transferred to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City on Thursday the 30th. Surgery was schedule for the following Monday. On the 3rd she had a spinal laminectomy and tumor removal. The surgery lasted about 4 hours. She was in ICU for the next 2 and half days while they monitored her. On the 6th she was moved back to in patient care.

Her recovery will be several months of physical and occupational therapy. She will need assistive devices and equipment for a long time to come. During this time we I will be traveling back and forth between Madison, WI and Kansas City.

We are asking for donations to help cover medical, physical therapy devices, travel and lodging.

We appreciate any and all donations.
