Support Sheryl's Journey to Recovery

On Jan. 8th our sister, Sheryl, fell and broke her neck coming out of the bathroom. She was in the house alone all day, as her husband was OTR trucking in Nebraska. Her paralysis was instant and she was found by their neighbor after Herb knew something must be wrong since she hadn't answered his texts during the day.

She was taken by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette, CO where her brother-in-law Terry was able to be at her side. She was taken into surgery hours after getting to the hospital and her ND family was notified early that day.

After surgery, her vitals dropped and she was intubated. She remains on the ventilator and four days later had a tracheostomy and a PEG procedure (feeding tube). Everything from her neck down has been affected.

Sheryl (70) retired some years ago - she and her husband Herb have lived in Frederick CO, close to 30 years. They have good friends at their local Legion and her goal is to be able to return to her home after rehabilitation.

Her husband Herb (61) is still working. There will be so many medical bills, therapies, acute hospital care, rehabilitation, wheelchair needs and Herb will need to be working right along with her to learn how to care for her in this new normal.

Sheryl was in the Wyndmere High School class of 1973. She briefly lived in Bismarck and Montana before locating to the Denver area in the late 1980s.

Sheryl is the beloved sister of John Manstrom of Wyndmere, ND where he still resides in the home that all the Manstroms grew up in. Their older brother Mike lives in Bismarck and all of Sheryl's nieces and nephews live in North Dakota. Through that large network of friends and family "back home," we hope to give Herb and Sheryl the security of getting bills paid and not having to worry during this next year of intense rehabilitation.

Your gift, whether $25, $250 or $2500 would be an incredible relief so they can spend their time learning how to live with quadriplegic abilities.
