Help Hailey Heal

Hello Everyone,

 

My name is Alexis Harris. I've known Hailey since the 5th Grade. She has always been such an active and independent woman, hands-on mother, and involved friend. Sadly, Hailey recently became disabled practically overnight due to an antibiotic called Levaquin. I have been by Hailey's side since learning of her disability (i.e in ER visits & helping her at home). It has been nothing but heartbreaking to watch her being unable to care for herself or her young children. I'm raising money to help her get through this horrendous time as she seeks adequate treatment, which can be incredibly costly. She is fighting so hard through the medical system. I'm asking for our community to help support Hailey however they can. She needs prepped meals, childcare, financial support, and round-the-clock physical help.

 

Here is her story...

Hailey was prescribed Levofloxacin after as a second line antibiotic after an uncomplicated tooth extraction. 

 

On Saturday, October 30, 2021, Hailey was prescribed Levofloxacin 750mg for 14-days by an on-call Doctor with no warning or counsel of risks or complications. Hailey had never taken this before and had since found out that there is a Black Box warning from the FDA for causing disability and extreme tendon issues.

 

On Sunday, with only one dose in her system, she had videos of her dancing around on Tiktok. By Monday and another dose later, she's unable to stand without complete tremoring and pain in her body. She couldn't believe what was happening to her and felt like a nightmare she couldn't wake up from.

 

By November 1st, 2021 Hailey began experiencing tendon pains, full-body tremors, and more. By November 3rd, her pain only worsened leaving her unable to walk without a cane for support.

 

Where we are now-

After her fourth ER visit and advocating for herself tirelessly, the attending doctor came to the conclusion that the ER does not have the means to properly diagnose the toxicity of the antibiotic.
